Blackheart Beauty
Blackheart Beauty is the private label for Hot Topic’s perfumes and beauty products. Their new line of colognes and perfumes needed a packaging upgrade. They commissioned me for phase one packaging ideation.
The Outcome
The Challenge
An L.A.-based cosmetics company was out of ideas for Hot Topics new line of perfumes. They needed a fresh perspective from a budding artist with experience in packaging design.
The Role
I conceptualized the first phase of packaging designs to integrate the established Blackheart Beauty branding. After one round of digital mock-ups, the client chose a winner, hands down… the crystal skull.
I refined the custom perfume bottle packaging to a simplified display with 360 degree transparency.
This design was such a hit, Hot Topic expanded it into a whole line of custom blow molded products. Since the original mold had already been made, we just altered the coloring for a custom ombre feel.
Blackheart Beauty is not only beloved for the great beauty products, but for the awesome packaging that may be displayed proudly in stylish boudoirs abound.
