Westwood Natives

I served as the creative director in residency at Westwood Natives, a permaculture coop in the heart of Texas. Here we see powerful branding strategy carried out across simple UX design, and clean-cut digital marketing.

The Outcome

The Challenge

Westwood Natives were brand new! With no established presence and an eagerness to inspire new community members to join, we needed to quickly establish branding and build a clear, simple site that detailed all the services and missions.

My farm “work-trade hours” were limited so I would need to build something effective and simple, quickly.

The Role:

I developed the branding, established the brand architecture, developed the website, and delivered assets for social media marketing.

I also provided a long-term digital marketing strategy that farm members could implement after my residency ended.

The process was simple. I had a clear idea of the mission via my residency and several community bonding events. I applied my learnings to concise copywriting that detailed the farm’s offerings. Then I used a combination of my own photography as well as stock photos to build a simple website with anchored nav buttons and paralax scrolling.

With the site established, I translated the branded elements to social media images that could be repeatedly used for a variety of content. I established a 3-tier social campaign: Information content, then application content, then community integration content, all brand as #realwild.

Westwood Natives gained two additional members and hosted one workshop since the inception of the new branding. They are now the largest provider of native trees in Central Texas. They have a solid plan of action in place when they are ready to take-charge of their social media presence.
